KASI SSA History

1983. 01.	Many current members of KASI and other space related entities supported the south Korea’s 1st satelite re-entry response team (COSMOS 1402)
1986. 03.	Astronomical Calculation Division of KASI developed the Korea’s 1st Orbit determination software package
2000. 06	Near Earth Object (NEO) research was selected as one of NRLs (National Research Laboratory)
2008. 07	NEO research group was formed in KASI
2008. 12	KASI initiated 1st Space Object monitoring research group for SLR development
2011. 06	KASI organized a SSA project center for OWL-Net development
2015. 01	KASI was designated as ‘National Space Situational Awareness Organization (NSSAO)’ by the revised Space Development Promotion Act (2014.05)
2015. 09	SSA project center in KASI was renamed the Center for SSA
2016. 02	KASI joined IWAN (International Asteroid Warning Network) and SMPAG (Space Mission Planning Advisory Group) under UN COPUOS
2019. 07	NSSAO Operation Office started its operation
